Everyday I Write the Book: 3.27.12

I once heard an urban legend about a fatigued business traveller. As he moved through the airport security checkpoint, he took of his shoes and unbuckled his belt for the metal detector. Except this guy was so out of it that he just kept going through the motions of getting undressed from pure muscle memory. He kicked off his shoes, removed his belt, unbottoned his pants and dropped trou as if he were just disrobing for day. Whether or not this story is true is immaterial. It carries a powerful lesson for you this week, Gemini. It's time to examine your own weird routines that seem to continue regardless of the actual context in which you find yourself. You've been just going through the motions for, well, years now. This week, assess each situation that currently perplexes you and respond according to its particular demands. It's time to stop phoning it in.
